Mission Statement

To establish an educational and supportive environment for the young men and women of the Walton Cross Country and Track & Field teams by providing financial support, administrative assistance, coordination of social activities and philanthropic efforts.

The Organization

Walton’s Cinder Club is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that supports Walton High School’s Cross Country and Track & Field Programs.  Since Cobb County School System's contributions only cover a fraction of the financial resources needed to assist athletes and coaches, the role of the Walton’s Cinder Club is to provide financial and volunteering support to both the Cross Country and the Track & Field teams.

The Cinder Club hosts, coordinates, and covers the financial cost of numerous functions and initiatives throughout the school year for athletes and their parents. In order to do so, the Cinder Club collects membership dues, participates in fundraising events, and encourages an active parental involvement. Your level of support has a direct impact on the success of all of our athletes!

All interested athletes and parents are invited to attend. Register your athlete during this kick-off meeting (online registration also available), pay Cinder Club membership dues, sign-up for volunteer opportunities, learn more about the upcoming season order team apparel, meet coaches, athletes and fellow parents.
  • Team T-shirts – Registered athletes receive a technical team T-shirt (compliments of the Cinder Club). The Seniors in the team are in charge of the T-shirts design.
  • Athletes/Parents Apparel – (See Uniform/Gear tab under XC or T&F for more details).
  • Hospitality – Healthy and nutritious snacks provided for athletes during meets. Parents will receive communications throughout the season regarding volunteer opportunities to provide a snack (bagels, bananas, grapes, etc.)
  • Team Pictures – Team and individual pictures are taken each season at Walton. Information about ordering and paying for pictures will be sent with each athlete approximately one week prior to the photo session. Money is due at the time of ordering. The photos are taken in Walton’s stadium and are typically available for pick-up at the banquet. Athletes must wear their team uniforms in the photos. Smile!
  • Team Banquet / Awards Ceremony – All athletes, their families and coaching staff are invited to participate in the annual team-banquet and awards ceremony held at the conclusion of the Cross Country or Track & Field Seasons. This event recognizes athletes individual and team accomplishments.
Senior Gifts – Each Senior athlete receives a special gift commemorating his/her involvement in Walton High School’s Running Program. Gifts are distributed during the end-of-season banquet, compliments of the Cinder Club.
  • Coaches’ Gifts – Cobb County’s School System provides at best limited funding to public schools’ athletic coaches. Therefore, Cinder Club membership dues and monetary contributions from parents are used to award our dedicated Cross Country and Track & Field coaching staff for the countless hours they have worked with our athletes during practices and at meets. All coaches receive a stipend award during the end-of-season banquet. This is a standard and acceptable practice for all sports programs at Walton High School.
  • Cross Country Team Trip (Cross Country Season only) – Each Fall, the Cross Country Team participates in a race outside the region. The team travels overnight by coach bus to a selected destination in the Southeast. Following the race, the team will picnic or participate in a special planned activity before returning home. Cinder Club membership includes most of the trip’s cost (transportation, lodging, races fees and many meals). Parent volunteers are welcome to assist coaching staff as chaperones during this trip. Every effort is made to ensure athletes’ safety (athletes are supervised on a 1 parent/coach per 15 athletes ratio). This trip is a great opportunity for athletes to build camaraderie with each other and the coaches.
  • Cross Country Summer Mileage T-shirts (Cross Country Season only) – Runners who train a minimum of 200 miles during the summer will receive a commemorative T-shirt containing their total mileage (in increments of 200, 300, 400, etc.).
  • Cross Country Athletes Pool Party (Cross Country Season only) – A fun get-together held in August at a neighborhood pool. Chaperoned by parent-volunteers.
